There are many things that you can do to lower your electricity bill.  These things include unplugging things you don’t use, keeping the lights off, use solar panels, candles, and energy efficient light bulbs.

One of the best ways to lower your energy bill is to unplug items that you don’t use.  Many people have things plugged into electric sockets and they don’t use them at all.  You might use a certain socket once a month but you have a strip plugged into it with five things plugged into the strip.  Many electrical items often draw electricity even though they are not in use if the electrical outlet is hot. If you unplug these items, it will not cost you in electricity.  Plus, you can eliminate any type of fire danger you might be creating if the sockets or cords are old.

You might have had such a high electricity bill that you haven’t been able to spend on items like mailing that painting to your Aunt Ruth because you had to buy cardboard edge protectors and an edge protector because such fragile shipments require custom packaging solutions would ensure it wouldn’t break in the mail.  You can lower your electric bill simply by shutting off the lights.  Kids are the words about leaving the lights on.  Every time you see lights on, shut them off.  Train your children to shut them off.  Also train your children to stay inside or outside but to stop coming in and out the front door.  This is because your central heat and air tries to maintain a certain temperature and if they are running in and out then they are disrupting the maintained temperature and causing the bill to be much higher.  Keep your temperatures at a logical degree so your bill is not through the roof.

Alternative sources of energy are a good idea.  Solar panels on the house or in the yard are an excellent way to save money.  You can eventually build a credit with the electric company by using solar panels and storing energy.  Plus, many state and local government give grants to families interested in changing their electricity to solar panels.

Candles are the smartest way to go for some people..  However, candles can get expensive if you are trying to light an entire house with them.  If it is just you and you don’t need much light at night, you can choose to light the room with a kerosene lantern or candles.  This is very inexpensive and uses no electricity at all.  A kerosene lantern should be kept at your home anyway in case you lose power in an outage.  Be careful with candles and kerosene lanterns around children.

There are many ways you can lower your power bill if it is getting too expensive for you.  These ways include using things like candles and kerosene lanterns to provide the light source.  A lantern can provide sufficient light in a small room.  Keep lights off in rooms that are not being used.  Think of an alternative power source.

Everyone is becoming more and more concerned with saving the environment. Companies are doing what they can to go green. Families are trying to go green to save the world for their children. Now you can use fluorescent bulbs that will last much longer that the incandescent bulbs. You might change bulbs in your home once a month or every other month. The fluorescent bulbs you will only change once a year or even less. Turning down the thermostat is going to save you a lot of money. Then when they get their first electric bill of $400 for a month they realize how expensive it is to maintain heat. You can keep your thermostat in your home at about 60 – 65 degrees and wear layers. The less energy you use to heat your home means the less coals you are burning into the environment through the power companies. This means you are doing your part. If you are a wood burning home then you don’t have to have a fire going every single day all day long. Choose times at night and early in the morning when it is the coldest time of day. Save on the wood and the carbons you are emitting into the air.

There are many ways you can stay warm this winter but the biggest way is by bundling up. Be smart and wear layers. You might like a cozy house but you will have to pay the price in your electric bill. It is also bad for the environment to use your heating solution when you don’t even need it. Be reasonable with the temperatures and you will save money and do something good for the environment.

The next time you do the dishes or your next load of laundry you should think about if you are harming the environment or not. Even though there is a pact or agreement these chemicals are still used in detergent and dish soap. The chemicals and pollutants are not only bad for the environment but they also cause problems with the body like skin irritations, allergies, and other issues.

There are plenty of environmentally friendly dish soaps and laundry soaps you can find on the market today that are not harmful to the skin. If you have a business and you claim to be ‘green’ then you need to invest in these things too, especially if your employees wear uniforms. For example, you might do laundry with your freemasons business or San Diego cruises line for all staff. Be sure your detergent is friendly. You don’t want someone who has their Green Card to point out that you are not following your ‘going green’ motto.

The ingredients that you want to stay away from include things like butyl cellosolve, petroleum, phosphates, and triclosan. Detergents with fragrances also have chemicals in them that are even linked to some forms of cancer.

The next time you wash the dishes or do the laundry you need to think about if you are being friendly to the environment or not. You are using water that is dumped back into the environment and you wear the clothes. Take care of you and take care of the environment by using healthy soaps so you can have a cleaner house and clothes.
